ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well a new support system for cancer patients works. It compares two approaches: the first is called "central oncology navigation," which helps guide patients through their cancer care, and the second adds a special role called an "oncology research navigator" (ORN) to this system. The trial includes two groups of patients: one group with newly diagnosed genitourinary or thoracic cancers, who will receive the navigation support for the first time, and another group with gastrointestinal, hematology, or breast cancers, who may receive the extra help from the ORN in addition to their standard care.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old, have a confirmed cancer diagnosis, and have a new patient appointment at a UNC Medical Center. You will need to give your consent to take part in the study. If you join, you can expect to receive support for your cancer care and potentially be connected to helpful services and clinical trials over a three-month period. The study aims to see how these support roles impact your quality of life and overall experience with cancer treatment.
