ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a specific type of pain relief technique called the Lateral Quadratus Lumborum Block (QLB) for patients undergoing a procedure known as Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography (PTC). The goal is to see if this method can help reduce pain after the procedure, lower the need for strong pain medications (opioids), and improve overall recovery. The trial will include adults aged 18 to 80 who are healthy enough for the procedure and have a body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 40. However, those with certain serious health conditions, allergies, or who are pregnant will not be eligible.
Participants in the trial can expect to receive a combination of sedation and the QLB technique during their PTC procedure. This approach aims to make them more comfortable and help manage pain more effectively. The study will also monitor how well this pain management strategy works in terms of patient satisfaction and recovery time. It's important to note that the anesthesiologist who gives the sedation will be different from the one who monitors pain, ensuring focused care throughout the process.
