ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how much food and liquid is in the stomach of pregnant women before they have a cesarean section (a common type of surgery to deliver a baby). The researchers want to compare the stomach volumes of women with diabetes to those without diabetes who are fasting before their surgery. By using ultrasound, a safe imaging technique, they aim to better understand how these two groups may differ, which could help improve patient care during cesarean deliveries.
To participate in this study, women must be between 18 and 40 years old, pregnant, and scheduled for an elective cesarean section after 37 weeks of pregnancy. They should have a specific health status (ASA II-III) and a body mass index (BMI) of less than 35. However, those who have other medical conditions affecting their stomach, have taken certain medications, or have serious health issues are not eligible. Participants can expect to have a simple ultrasound procedure done to measure their stomach volume, and their involvement will help provide valuable information for future pregnant patients.
