ClinConnect Summary
The BEACON trial is a study aimed at improving care for people with epilepsy in western Kenya. It will explore whether a new system, which helps track patients' medical records and treatment progress, can help individuals stick to their medication and stay engaged with their healthcare. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but when it starts, it will focus on people aged 12 and older living in Busia or Trans Nzoia County who have been diagnosed with epilepsy but have not been following their prescribed treatments.
To participate, individuals must be diagnosed with epilepsy by a trained professional and must not be currently receiving treatment from a specialist for a serious brain condition. Participants will be part of a group that uses the BEACON system, which aims to make it easier for them to manage their treatment and maintain regular check-ups. It's a chance to contribute to important research that could help improve the quality of life for many people with epilepsy in the region.
