ClinConnect Summary
The Retrospective Acute Care Appendectomy Study is looking at patients who had surgery for acute appendicitis, which is when the appendix becomes inflamed and needs to be removed quickly. This study compares two types of minimally invasive surgical techniques: robotic-assisted surgery and laparoscopic surgery. The goal is to gather information about the experiences and outcomes of patients who underwent these procedures in the past, specifically between 2018 and 30 days before the study's approval.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 22 years old and have had an urgent or emergency appendectomy using either robotic-assisted or laparoscopic methods. However, people who had certain conditions, like specific types of tumors or who were pregnant or breastfeeding at the time of their surgery, cannot participate. If eligible, participants can expect their previous surgical data to be analyzed, contributing to a better understanding of these surgical options for future patients.
