ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at ways to predict whether patients with traumatic brain injuries can successfully stop using a breathing machine (called mechanical ventilation). The researchers will measure specific breathing strength indicators, such as how much air a patient can inhale and the pressure in their airways, to see if these measurements can help determine if a patient is ready to be taken off the ventilator.
To be eligible for this study, patients must be between 18 and 65 years old, have a closed traumatic brain injury, and have been on the ventilator for more than 24 hours. They also need to show signs that their breathing problems are improving and that their overall health is stable. Participants in the trial will undergo tests to measure their breathing strength and pressure, and the results may help improve the care of future patients in similar situations.
