ClinConnect Summary
The FAMiLE trial is studying a program designed to help parents or caregivers in Nigeria who are affected by the incarceration of a family member. This program aims to support these individuals by teaching them mindfulness techniques, legal information, and ways to improve their parenting skills. The researchers want to see if this program can help reduce feelings of anxiety, trauma, and depression, while also boosting overall well-being and social support for families. Participants will be compared to a group that will receive the program later, helping the researchers understand how effective the program is.
To be eligible for this trial, you must be 18 years or older and a parent or caregiver responsible for children who have been affected by someone being in prison. You should also be living in specific areas of Nigeria, like Delta, Jos, or Lagos State, and be able to consent to participate. If you decide to take part, you can expect to gain valuable skills and knowledge that could improve your parenting and help your family cope with the challenges of incarceration. It’s important to note that those undergoing severe mental health treatment or who are not fluent in English will not be able to join the study.
