ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how effective a combination of virtual and hands-on simulation training is for midwifery students learning to manage a condition called preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication that can affect both mothers and babies. The trial involves 75 midwifery students from Universidad de Los Andes in Chile, who will be divided into two groups: one group will experience both virtual simulations and hands-on clinical practice, while the other group will only use virtual simulations. The goal is to see which method helps students learn better and make more informed clinical decisions.
To participate, students must be in the second part of their midwifery program and have completed foundational courses in obstetrics and gynecology. They should not have prior experience in high-risk obstetric units or in managing preeclampsia. The training will last four days, during which students will take tests to measure their knowledge and skills before and after the training. They will also provide feedback on how satisfied they were with the training and how confident they feel in handling preeclampsia cases. This study aims to improve midwifery education, ultimately leading to better care for pregnant women.
