ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how people with bronchiectasis respond to a 6-minute stepper test compared to healthy individuals. Bronchiectasis is a lung condition that causes a persistent cough, frequent lung infections, and reduced ability to exercise. The researchers want to understand how well the 6-minute stepper test and other exercise tests, like the 6-minute walk test and the 1-minute sit-to-stand test, can show the physical abilities and muscle strength of people with this condition.

To participate in the trial, individuals must be 18 years or older and in stable health, meaning they are not experiencing any serious flare-ups of their bronchiectasis. They should not have any heart, joint, or nerve issues that could affect their performance in the tests. Healthy individuals in the control group have similar age and gender requirements and must also be in good health. Participants can expect to take part in several exercise tests, and by doing so, help researchers learn more about how bronchiectasis affects exercise capacity. This information could lead to better understanding and treatment options for those with the condition.
