ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Exergaming Revolution in Dementia," is exploring how a 12-week program of exergaming—fun video games that also involve physical activity—can help improve the well-being of people with major neurocognitive disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other related conditions. The study is currently looking for participants who live in long-term care facilities and have a mild to moderate level of cognitive impairment, as measured by a specific test called the Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE).
To be eligible, participants need to have been diagnosed with one of the neurocognitive disorders mentioned and have an MMSE score between 5 and 26. However, those with more severe cognitive impairment (MMSE score below 5) or certain health issues that could make participation unsafe will not be included. Throughout the trial, participants can expect to engage in enjoyable physical activities through exergaming, which may not only be fun but could also help enhance their physical and mental health. This study is a great opportunity for eligible individuals to take part in an innovative approach to improving quality of life while living in a care setting.
