ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Positive Psychology for Smoking Cessation," is exploring how a type of therapy called Positive Psychotherapy (PPT) can help people who are serious about quitting smoking. The study is specifically looking at adults aged 21 and older who have a serious mental illness and smoke at least 10 cigarettes a day. Participants should have a strong desire to quit smoking within the next month and be willing to use nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) daily, which is a method to help reduce cravings.
If you or someone you know is interested in participating, you should be able to speak and read English and be prepared to engage with the treatment. However, individuals who have a legal guardian or are actively struggling with substance use disorders are not eligible for this trial. Participants can expect to receive support through the therapy designed to help them quit smoking, along with guidance on using NRT effectively. This study is currently recruiting, so it’s a great opportunity for those who fit the criteria and want to make a positive change in their lives.
