ClinConnect Summary
This study looks at whether a short core training program added to the usual warm-up can improve how female amateur basketball players land after jumping and also how high they can jump. It uses a cluster randomized design, meaning entire teams are assigned to either the core-training group or to continue with their standard warm-up. Participants will be tested at three times: before the 8-week program, right after the 8 weeks, and again about 3 months later. The main thing the researchers will measure is the Landing Error Scoring System (LESS) score, which watches how players land from a jump to see if there are movement errors that could raise injury risk; lower LESS is better. They’ll also measure jump height during a drop vertical jump test, using a Chronojump platform; higher jump height is considered better.
Eligible players are female, at least 13 years old, and on the official roster of a participating team, with a history of menarche and active training/competition. They must have completed at least one full competitive season and be able to participate in assessments. Those with an injury or illness that would prevent participation, or who miss a significant portion of the program or assessments, wouldn’t be included. All testing happens at participating teams’ facilities in Spain, with assessments including filming a DVJ for LESS scoring and a jump height test. The study is currently enrolling by invitation, plans to enroll about 84 participants, and is led by the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. No results are available yet.
