ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how bacteria behave in patients with cirrhosis who develop bacterial infections. Cirrhosis is a serious liver condition that makes patients more vulnerable to infections, and unfortunately, many of these infections are becoming harder to treat due to antibiotic resistance. This study aims to collect important data from hospitals across Latin America to identify how often these infections are caused by bacteria that don’t respond to standard antibiotics. By doing this, the researchers hope to create guidelines tailored for doctors in Latin America, which would help them choose the most effective treatments based on local infection patterns.
To participate in this study, individuals need to have cirrhosis and have experienced a bacterial infection confirmed by lab tests, either when they were admitted to the hospital or during their stay. Those who have received certain types of organ transplants are not eligible. Participants can expect their information to contribute to a better understanding of how to treat infections in cirrhosis patients, ultimately leading to improved care and outcomes. This research is crucial, as it will help ensure that doctors have the best tools available to fight these infections effectively.
