ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how chewing food affects the quality of life and nutritional status of patients who have had an ischemic stroke, which is a type of stroke caused by a blockage in the blood vessels supplying the brain. In the study, participants will be randomly divided into two groups: one group will receive regular rehabilitation treatment and enteral nutrition (nutrition delivered through a tube) as usual, while the other group will also participate in a 10-minute chewing food training session before each meal. Researchers will compare the two groups to see if the chewing training helps improve the patients' overall well-being and nutrition.

To be eligible for this trial, participants should be over 18 years old and diagnosed with ischemic stroke, with confirmed swallowing difficulties (called dysphagia). They should be awake and alert, have stable vital signs, and not have a history of prior strokes. People with certain other health issues, such as severe liver or kidney problems, or those who are pregnant, will not be able to participate. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to take part in regular rehabilitation and either receive chewing training or continue with standard care. This study aims to find new ways to help stroke patients improve their eating experience and overall health.
