ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the anatomy of the neck in adults to help doctors understand how to safely perform a life-saving procedure called emergency front-of-neck access (eFONA). This procedure is used when a patient cannot breathe normally during general anesthesia, and doctors need to make an incision in the neck to provide oxygen. The study will use a non-invasive ultrasound to look for major blood vessels in the neck that could be at risk of being injured during this procedure. By understanding the normal anatomy of the neck, the trial aims to improve the safety of eFONA for patients who might need it.
To participate in this trial, you should be a healthy adult between 18 and 80 years old who can understand the study and provide consent. The study is not yet recruiting, but when it begins, participants can expect to undergo a simple ultrasound on their neck, which is painless and does not involve any incisions or needles. This research is important because it will help ensure that doctors can provide emergency care more safely during critical situations.
