ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the "Decision Aid for Dementia Therapies," aims to create a helpful tool for patients and their families who are facing decisions about medications for dementia. The goal is to make it easier for them to understand their options and choose the best care for their loved ones. The study is not yet recruiting participants, but when it begins, it will focus on individuals aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with early stages of dementia or mild cognitive impairment. Both patients and their caregivers, who assist them with medical care, can be part of this study, as long as they speak English or Spanish.
To participate, patients must be receiving care at UCHealth and have a doctor who can confirm their diagnosis. Caregivers should be the primary support person for the patient. The trial will also involve healthcare professionals like neurologists and pharmacists who work with dementia patients. However, individuals with more advanced dementia or those who cannot give consent themselves will not be eligible. Participants can expect to engage in discussions that will help shape the decision aid, providing valuable insights that may benefit others in similar situations.
