ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two different methods to help manage pain during a specific type of surgery called transnasal endoscopic pituitary surgery, which is performed through the nose to access the pituitary gland in the brain. The trial will compare the effectiveness of a sphenopalatine ganglion block, a type of nerve block that aims to reduce pain, with dexmedetomidine infusion, a medication that helps with sedation and pain relief. The goal is to see which method provides better pain relief and a clearer view for the surgeon during the procedure.

To participate in this trial, individuals need to be between 21 and 64 years old and have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or less. Both men and women are eligible, but there are some important exclusions. For example, individuals taking certain medications like blood thinners or those with specific medical conditions that prevent safe use of regional anesthesia won't be able to join. Participants in the trial can expect to receive close monitoring and care throughout the study, helping to ensure their safety and comfort during the surgery. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into improving pain management in this type of surgery.
