ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how to improve cervical cancer screening for women living in rural areas of the Mifi Health District in Cameroon. The goal is to compare a new approach that actively involves community members in developing and implementing screening strategies with a traditional method where women go to the hospital for screening. The trial is part of a larger initiative to increase awareness and access to cervical cancer screening, especially for women between the ages of 30 and 49, or 25 to 49 if they are HIV-positive.
To participate in the trial, women must live in one of the rural health areas within the Mifi district and be within the specified age range. They should also be able to give their consent to join the study. Participants can expect to either take part in community-led workshops to create local screening strategies or be invited to get screened at the hospital. All women screened will receive free HPV testing and, if needed, follow-up care. The researchers hope that by involving the community, more women will get screened, ultimately reducing the risk of cervical cancer in these areas.
