ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well a special type of ultrasound, called transcranial Doppler ultrasound, can be used to check blood flow in the brain after a specific surgery known as cranioplasty, which involves using a material called polyetheretherketone (PEEK) to repair skull defects. Researchers will measure blood flow in different arteries of the brain both before and 10 days after the surgery to see how the procedure affects cerebral blood flow. This study is important because it aims to improve our understanding of how the brain responds to this type of surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for PEEK cranioplasty surgery. You should also have a cranial bone defect that allows access for the ultrasound. If you have a complete cranial bone in the area where the ultrasound will be done, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you will undergo the ultrasound before your surgery and again 10 days after. The information gathered will help doctors learn more about brain health and recovery following this type of surgery.
