ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how taste and smell changes in patients with digestive cancers who are undergoing chemotherapy. Many cancer patients experience alterations in their senses, which can affect their eating habits and nutritional health. Since being well-nourished is crucial for better health, quality of life, and survival during cancer treatment, this study aims to understand how these sensory changes impact patients’ nutritional status. Researchers will assess patients’ taste and smell before and after their first cycle of chemotherapy and see how these changes relate to their overall health and nutrition.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old, diagnosed with a digestive cancer, and starting chemotherapy or immunotherapy. You should be able to eat by mouth and fill out some questionnaires. Unfortunately, if you have had previous treatment for another type of cancer, certain types of surgeries on your head or neck, or receive exclusive feeding through tubes, you won't be able to join. Participants will be closely monitored throughout the study, providing valuable insights that could help improve nutritional care for future cancer patients.
