ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the role of vitamin D in helping patients who have suffered low-energy hip fractures, which often occur in older adults with osteoporosis (a condition that weakens bones). The researchers want to see if giving vitamin D supplements to these patients can improve their recovery and lower the chances of having another fracture. They will measure the vitamin D levels in participants and provide supplements for one year while monitoring their progress and overall health.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be over 18 years old, have had a low-energy hip fracture, and have low vitamin D levels (less than 30 ng/ml). They also need to provide consent to participate and have a medical history available. However, those who are pregnant, currently receiving other osteoporosis treatments, or have certain medical conditions will not be included. Participants can expect regular check-ins during the study to track their vitamin D levels and recovery. This trial aims to gather valuable data that could help improve care for patients with similar conditions in the future.
