ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new program called DYNAMO-PSY, which aims to help young adults who have recently experienced a first episode of psychosis, such as schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. The study will investigate whether an adapted physical activity program, which includes fun and engaging activities like virtual reality cycling, can encourage these patients to stay active. Staying physically active is important because it may help prevent weight gain and other health issues that can arise from certain medications, and it could also improve self-esteem, cognitive abilities, and overall quality of life.
To be eligible for this study, participants should be between 18 and 30 years old and must have been diagnosed with a first episode of psychosis within the last two years. They should be currently receiving treatment with antipsychotic medications and be willing to take part in the study after receiving all necessary information and giving their consent. Participants will engage in the physical activity program and may benefit from improved health and well-being. However, there are specific exclusions, such as being pregnant or having certain medical conditions that could make participation unsafe. Overall, this study hopes to find out if this innovative approach can effectively support young adults in their recovery journey.
