ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring the best type of mesh to use during surgery for repairing abdominal hernias. Specifically, it compares two types of mesh—light and heavy— to see which one leads to fewer infections after surgery. By understanding which mesh is safer, doctors hope to improve the healing process for patients undergoing this common procedure.
If you’re a patient aged 15 or older and are scheduled for surgery to fix a primary abdominal hernia, you may be eligible to participate. However, people with certain health issues like diabetes, chronic cough, or weakened immune systems cannot join the study. Participants can expect to have their surgery and then be monitored for any signs of infection afterwards. This research is important as it could help guide future choices in hernia repair surgeries, ultimately making procedures safer for everyone.
