ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how to improve syphilis testing and treatment for pregnant women who come to the emergency department (ED) or obstetrical (OB) triage without having received prenatal care or documented syphilis results during their current pregnancy. The goal is to offer both standard lab tests and quick point-of-care (POC) tests for syphilis. By doing this, the researchers hope to ensure that more pregnant patients receive the necessary treatment if they test positive and to understand what factors may help or hinder them from completing their treatment.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be pregnant and seeking care at specific hospitals in Texas, have not had any prenatal care during their current pregnancy, and have no documented syphilis results for that pregnancy. Unfortunately, those who have already received care and have documented syphilis results will not be included. If you participate, you can expect to undergo testing and may receive support to help you get the care you need, as the study also aims to identify barriers that affect treatment completion, such as financial issues or lack of health insurance.
