ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of messages can improve the oral health of refugees living in Alexandria, Egypt. The researchers want to see if sending mobile text messages that focus on the benefits of good oral health (gain-framed messages) or the negative impacts of poor oral health (loss-framed messages) can help refugees take better care of their teeth and gums. They will measure changes in dental plaque, which is a sticky film on our teeth that can cause problems if not cleaned, as well as how overall oral health affects their quality of life.
To join the study, participants need to be refugees over 18 years old, speak Arabic, have lived in Alexandria for at least six months, and have a mobile phone to receive messages. They should also be willing to participate and not be planning to move away during the year-long study. Throughout the trial, participants can expect to receive text messages related to oral health and will be asked about their knowledge and attitudes toward dental care. This study aims to provide valuable insights that could improve health education for refugees in the future.
