ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on improving health services for adolescents in Laos, specifically by adding the HPV vaccine to the care they receive. The study aims to find out if this combined approach helps increase the number of 10 to 13-year-old girls getting vaccinated against HPV, a virus that can lead to certain types of cancer. Additionally, the researchers want to see if offering the HPV vaccine along with other health services encourages both boys and girls in this age group to use more health services overall. They will compare the experiences of participants receiving the combined intervention with those getting standard HPV vaccination services.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be between 10 and 13 years old. Girls will receive the HPV vaccine and sexual health education, while boys will participate in sexual health education only. Those in the combined intervention will get the vaccine at schools or health facilities, join group discussions about sexual health, have one-on-one counseling sessions, and access other health services as needed. The study will also look into any challenges and opinions from the adolescents, their caregivers, and healthcare providers regarding this new approach. This research is currently recruiting participants, and the findings could help shape better health services for young people in Laos.
