ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how to help parents and legal guardians who smoke quit smoking, especially those who face social challenges that make quitting harder. The goal is to reduce children's exposure to second-hand smoke, which can be harmful to their health. The study will involve about 1,000 participants who are parents or guardians of children under 18 and who visit pediatric clinics in Montreal. To be eligible, participants must be at least 18 years old, smoke, and report at least one social issue, such as problems with housing, employment, or finances.
Participants will be divided into two groups: one that receives standard care and another that gets extra support from a Health Navigator (HN) along with a smoking cessation program called CanCEASE. This HN will help participants address their social needs, which may help them quit smoking more effectively. Throughout the study, participants will complete questionnaires to track their progress at the beginning, after 6 months, and after 12 months. If you're a parent who smokes and is facing social challenges, this trial could offer you valuable resources and support in your journey to quit smoking.
