ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called NDCVC-01, is investigating a new approach to placing central venous catheters, which are tubes used for delivering medications or fluids directly into a large vein. The goal of the study is to improve the success of this procedure while reducing the risk of complications, such as serious bleeding, that can occur when making a small cut in the skin. Specifically, the researchers are looking at a method that skips the step of dilating the skin, which they believe could make the procedure safer and more comfortable for patients.

To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and require catheterization of the internal jugular vein, which is a large vein in your neck. However, if you have an infection where the catheter would be placed, certain medical conditions that prevent catheterization, or if imaging tests show a blockage in the vein, you won't be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo the new technique and help researchers learn whether it is a better option for patients needing central venous access. This study is not yet recruiting participants, so there’s no need to sign up right now.
