ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Short-term Recovery After Trapeziectomy and TMC Prosthesis: a Diary Study," is investigating how patients recover in the first few weeks after two different surgeries for arthritis in the thumb joint. The two procedures being studied are trapeziectomy, which involves removing a small bone in the wrist, and TMC-joint arthroplasty, which replaces that bone with an artificial one. The goal is to understand patients' experiences with pain, their ability to use their hand, and their overall quality of life during the eight weeks following surgery.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be between 18 and 75 years old and have already tried other treatments for their arthritis without success. They should be planning to undergo either a trapeziectomy or TMC-joint arthroplasty. Participants will be asked to keep a daily diary and complete questionnaires about their recovery, which will take about five minutes each day for the first eight weeks after their surgery. Importantly, there are no direct benefits or significant risks from participation, and the study is not yet recruiting participants.
