ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how gardening activities can help reduce anxiety and improve the emotional well-being of children aged 6 to 12 who are hospitalized for acute illnesses. Hospital stays can be stressful for kids, and researchers want to see if spending time gardening can make them feel better. The trial will involve two groups of children: one group will participate in gardening sessions during their hospital stay, while the other group will receive standard care without gardening activities.
To be eligible for the study, children must be between 6 and 12 years old, hospitalized for at least three days due to a sudden medical issue, and able to participate voluntarily with their parent’s consent. The trial will take place between September 2024 and June 2025, and it will include assessments before, during, and after the gardening activities to track any changes in anxiety and emotional health. This study may provide valuable insights into how nature-based activities can help young patients cope with the challenges of being in the hospital.
