ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how effective bariatric surgery, a type of weight loss surgery, can be for people with rapidly progressing diabetic kidney disease (diabetic nephropathy). The goal is to understand how losing a significant amount of weight might improve kidney function in patients with this condition. Researchers will also work on creating a model to predict how well a patient’s kidneys may improve after they lose weight.
To participate, you need to be between 18 and 65 years old and have a body mass index (BMI) of over 25, which indicates being overweight. You should also have severe kidney issues, which are measured using specific tests. However, certain patients, such as those taking specific medications or those with certain other health conditions, may not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to receive close monitoring and support throughout your weight loss journey and contribute to important research that could help others in the future.
