ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well exercise testing can help us understand physical activity in children and teenagers who have inherited heart conditions called long QT syndrome and catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia. The main goal is to see if the maximum heart rate measured during a controlled exercise test on a treadmill matches what these kids experience during their everyday activities. By doing this, researchers hope to find better ways to monitor and support their heart health.
To participate, children aged 6 to 16 years who have been diagnosed with one of these heart conditions, as well as their healthy siblings, can take part. Participants will perform a treadmill exercise test and wear a monitor for two weeks to track their daily activity and heart rate. At the end of this period, they will fill out a questionnaire about their physical activity. It’s important to note that the trial is not yet recruiting participants, and it currently only includes children who are able to run on a treadmill and understand English.
