ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a procedure called acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) on blood clotting during heart surgery. ANH involves using a special fluid to help maintain blood volume before the surgeon connects a heart-lung machine during the operation. The trial will compare two groups of patients: one group will receive ANH before the surgery, while the other group will not. Researchers want to see how this treatment affects blood clotting after the surgery, which is important for preventing excessive bleeding.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults scheduled for heart surgery with a heart-lung machine and must agree to take part by signing a consent form. However, certain conditions exclude patients from participating, like severe kidney or liver problems, very low heart function, or the use of specific heart devices before surgery. Those who join the trial can expect close monitoring of their blood clotting during and after the surgery, which can help improve care for future patients undergoing similar procedures.
