ClinConnect Summary
The "Fitness and Nutrition in Glioma" trial is a research study looking at how a special diet and exercise can help patients with malignant glioma, a type of brain cancer. This pilot study will involve 15 participants who will follow a modified Atkins diet, which is low in carbohydrates, along with a fitness program over 15 weeks. Participants will take part in two supervised exercise sessions each week and will also have an exercise program they can do at home.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to have a confirmed diagnosis of high-grade glioma and be in good enough health to engage in moderate to vigorous physical activities. They must also be able to commit to the study and give informed consent. Unfortunately, those currently receiving radiation or chemotherapy, or who have serious health issues that prevent them from exercising or following a restrictive diet, will not be eligible. This trial offers an opportunity to explore how lifestyle changes can impact the health and well-being of patients battling this challenging condition.
