ClinConnect Summary

The VICO-trial is studying how effective video consultations are for following up with children aged 4 to 17 who have Functional Abdominal Pain Disorders (FAPDs), such as irritable bowel syndrome or abdominal migraines. The goal is to see if these video check-ins provide the same level of care and relief as in-person visits. Researchers will compare the health outcomes and overall experiences of families using video consultations versus those using traditional face-to-face meetings.

To participate, children need to meet certain criteria, including having one of the specific types of FAPDs and being able to use video technology. Participants will keep a diary for one week and fill out a questionnaire after each consultation, which will take place at the beginning of the study, and again after 6 and 12 weeks. This trial is currently recruiting, and it's open to all genders. If a child is eligible, they will help researchers understand if video consultations can be just as effective as in-person visits for managing these abdominal pain issues.
