VICO-trial: Video Consultations in the Follow-up of Children With Functional Abdominal Pain Disorders

The VICO-trial is studying how effective video consultations are for following up with children aged 4 to 17 who have Functional Abdominal Pain Disorders (FAPDs), such as irritable bowel syndrome or abdominal migraines. Participants will keep a diary for one week and fill out a questionnaire after each consultation, which will take place at the beginning of the study, and again after 6 and 12 weeks. This trial is currently recruiting, and it's open to all genders. If a child is eligible, they will help researchers understand if video consultations can be just as effective as in-person visits for managing these abdominal pain issues.

Eligibility criteria

• Inclusion Criteria:
• • Children aged 4 years to 17 years
• • Meeting the Rome IV criteria for one of the four types of Functional Abdominal Pain Disorders (FAPD's): functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal migraine, functional abdominal pain - not otherwise specified.
• • Being able to conduct a video consultation
• Exclusion Criteria:
• • If no follow-up consultation is indicated
• • If it is necessary that the follow-up consultations are face to face
