ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new online resource called CHOICE-ICD, designed to help patients who have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). An ICD is a device that monitors your heart and delivers a small shock if it detects a dangerous heart rhythm. Many patients and their families want to know more about how the ICD works and how to manage life with it. This study aims to create an easy-to-use educational tool that includes games, quizzes, and videos to provide information and support. By participating, patients will have access to this resource for three months, along with their usual care, and will share their thoughts through questionnaires and interviews afterward.
To be eligible for this trial, you should be a patient with heart failure who is waiting for or has already received an ICD. You should also be mentally and physically able to participate. Caregivers who are in regular contact with the patient and healthcare professionals involved in their care can also take part. However, individuals who cannot give consent, those with cognitive impairments, or patients who are pregnant will not be included. This study marks an important step in providing patients with more knowledge and control over their health, ultimately helping to reduce anxiety and improve their quality of life.
