ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two different exercise programs can help improve balance and walking in older adults. One program is the Otago Exercise Program, which includes exercises to strengthen the legs and improve balance. The other program uses non-immersive virtual reality (VR) training, which is designed to be fun and engaging, almost like playing a game. The goal is to see which method is more effective at helping seniors maintain their stability and reduce the risk of falls, which can lead to serious injuries.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 55 years old and able to walk on your own without a walking aid. You should also be able to stand upright for 10 seconds with your eyes open and closed. Unfortunately, if you use a wheelchair, have certain neurological disorders, or have severe cognitive difficulties, you would not be eligible to join. If you do qualify, you can expect to engage in either the exercise program or the VR training, which could help improve your balance and overall quality of life. The trial is currently looking for participants, so this could be a great opportunity to contribute to important research that may benefit older adults like you or your loved ones.
