ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new program called Narrative Enhancement and Cognitive Therapy for Youth (NECT-Y) to see if it can help young people with bipolar disorder or other mental health challenges feel better about themselves and reduce feelings of self-stigma. The trial aims to find out if it’s possible to run a larger study by checking how easy it is to recruit participants, keep them in the study, and ensure they follow the treatment. Researchers will also look at whether the facilitators can deliver the NECT-Y program correctly and if the young participants find it helpful and acceptable.
To be eligible for this study, participants should be between the ages of 15 and 24 and have a primary diagnosis of bipolar disorder or multiple mental health conditions, along with a certain level of internalized stigma (feeling negative about oneself because of mental illness). Participants will either join a 14-week virtual group session of NECT-Y or receive standard treatment. They will also fill out questionnaires at the beginning, after the treatment, and during a follow-up to help researchers understand the program's impact. Overall, this trial is an important step in exploring new ways to support mental health in youth.
