ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at different ways to help people with head and neck cancer manage their recovery and emotional well-being after being diagnosed. Researchers want to see if a self-management model, where patients learn to help themselves through their rehabilitation, is more effective than a standard rehabilitation approach. Participants will be assigned to one of these two models and will complete questionnaires about their feelings and experiences during the treatment. Blood samples will also be taken at various points to check for signs of emotional distress.
To join this trial, participants need to be between 18 and 70 years old, have been diagnosed with head and neck cancer, and be experiencing some psychological distress. They should also be planning to receive treatment in an outpatient setting and be able to complete the questionnaires independently. Those with a history of other cancers or certain mental health conditions, or who are already receiving psychological treatments, will not be eligible. Participants can expect regular check-ins and support from trained nurses throughout the study.
