ClinConnect Summary
The Rehabilitation Outcomes Study is a clinical trial designed to explore how a pre-treatment rehabilitation program (called prehabilitation) can help adult cancer patients who are at high risk. The goal is to see if this program can improve their physical abilities and overall quality of life before they start cancer treatment. Participants will be selected through a screening process at oncology clinics, and those who qualify will receive personalized support to help them get ready for treatment. The researchers believe that this approach will not only benefit the patients but also help find better ways to connect high-risk individuals with the care they need.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old and have been referred to cancer care at the University of North Carolina Medical Center after being screened for specific health challenges, such as difficulty with daily activities or concerns about their balance. It’s important to note that individuals who have serious medical issues that could make exercise unsafe, or who cannot provide consent due to certain disabilities, will not be able to join. If you decide to participate, you can expect to engage in activities aimed at improving your health and wellness as you prepare for cancer treatment, while also contributing to important research that could help others in the future.
