ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a special device can help monitor breathing patterns in patients with severe breathing problems who are receiving high-flow oxygen therapy. High-flow oxygen therapy is a treatment that provides extra oxygen to people who have trouble breathing and can help them avoid more invasive procedures like intubation. The aim of the trial is to see if measuring changes in breathing patterns can give doctors important information about when to consider intubation, which is when a tube is placed in the airway to help with breathing.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old, admitted to the intensive care unit for severe breathing difficulties, and receiving high-flow oxygen therapy. However, those who are already using invasive ventilation (a more intense breathing support method) or are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot participate. During the trial, patients will wear a non-invasive sensor that continuously tracks their breathing patterns, helping doctors make better decisions about their care. This study is important because it might improve treatment for patients with serious respiratory issues.
