ClinConnect Summary
This study is testing two ways to teach paramedic students using virtual patient simulations to improve quick and correct decision-making in emergencies. In one group, students receive expert-guided training with feedback from a real instructor across 12 patient scenarios. In the other group, students work through the same 12 scenarios on their own, with feedback provided in writing by the computer program. The main outcome is a score on a virtual patient exam measured about one week after training.
Eligible participants are healthy adults 19–21 years old who are 4th-semester paramedic students at Acibadem University in Istanbul and have not previously worked on the same scenarios. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the expert-guided group or the self-learning group, and they will not know which training style they’re in. The study is educational and aims to help educators decide which method best supports developing emergency decision-making skills.
