Tandem Colonoscopy Randomized Controlled Trial Adenoma Miss Rate

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how artificial intelligence (AI) can help medical trainees find polyps—small growths that can turn into cancer—during colonoscopy, a procedure used to examine the colon. Previous research has shown that both trainee and experienced doctors sometimes miss these polyps, which is concerning because catching them early can be crucial for preventing cancer. In this study, a trainee will first look at part of the colon, and then a more experienced doctor will check the same area. Depending on the situation, the trainee may use AI technology during their examination to see if it helps them find more polyps.

Eligible participants for this trial are adults who are going for a routine colonoscopy, which is a test to check for polyps or other issues. However, those who have had certain previous surgeries or specific conditions that could complicate the procedure may not be able to join. If you participate, you can expect to undergo a standard colonoscopy, and afterward, the researchers will gather feedback from the trainees about their experience using AI during the procedure. This study aims to improve colonoscopy training and ultimately enhance the detection of any problematic polyps.
