ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to compare two types of devices that help patients breathe during surgery—the Proseal Laryngeal Mask and the Air-Q Intubation Laryngeal Airway. The researchers want to see how well each device works and if they cause any complications, especially in elderly patients aged 65 to 90 years. This is important because older adults often have different airway structures, which might affect how these devices function.
To participate in this study, patients need to be between 65 and 90 years old and scheduled for a planned surgery that requires general anesthesia. However, there are some criteria that would exclude people from joining, such as having a very high body weight or certain breathing or neck issues. For those who are eligible, they can expect to be part of a trial that aims to improve care for elderly patients undergoing surgery, helping doctors better understand which device might be safer and more effective.
