ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether adding magnesium sulfate to a common pain medication called bupivacaine can help reduce the amount of opioids needed after upper abdominal cancer surgery. The trial will use a special ultrasound technique to deliver the medications to help manage pain more effectively. Researchers want to see if this combination can lower the total opioid consumption in the first 24 hours after surgery and improve patients' pain scores.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and in good enough health based on a specific scoring system used by anesthesiologists. This means they should be able to have regional anesthesia safely. However, individuals who refuse to participate, have allergies to the study medications, or have certain medical conditions like severe infections or heart issues will not be included. If you join the trial, you will receive either the magnesium sulfate and bupivacaine or just the bupivacaine, and neither you nor the doctors will know which one you receive until the study is complete. This helps ensure the results are fair and unbiased.
