ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how not getting enough sleep affects heart function during exercise, specifically cycling, in young, healthy adults. Researchers want to find out if a lack of sleep leads to changes in heart output and blood pressure when exercising, and they are also interested in whether these effects are different between men and women. Participants will take part in two lab visits: one after a normal night’s sleep and another after a night with limited sleep. They will keep a diary about their sleep and what they eat or drink, and they will complete different cycling exercises to measure their heart performance.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be healthy, with no known heart or metabolic diseases, and they should not smoke or take long-term medications (except for birth control). They should also be physically fit enough to take part in the exercise tests. During the trial, participants will follow specific sleep guidelines to ensure accurate results. This study aims to contribute to our understanding of how sleep impacts heart health during physical activity. If you're interested or think you might qualify, consider reaching out to learn more!
