ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the condition known as thoracic aorta dilatation, which is when the main artery in the chest becomes wider than normal. The researchers want to find out how common this condition is among older weightlifters, specifically those over the age of 35 who have at least five years of weightlifting experience. They are also looking at three different types of weightlifting—bodybuilding, cross-fit, and powerlifting—to see if the prevalence of thoracic aorta dilatation varies among these groups.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 35 years old and have been weightlifting for five years or more. Unfortunately, if you are under 35, have less than five years of experience, or have a history of thoracic aorta problems, you won’t be eligible. If you decide to join, you can expect to undergo some assessments related to your heart health, and your participation will help researchers understand more about this condition in weightlifters. This information could be important for improving health and safety guidelines in the weightlifting community.
