ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of a medication called dexmedetomidine to help manage pain after a surgery called thoracotomy, which involves opening the chest to access organs inside. The researchers want to see if adding dexmedetomidine to a specific pain control method, known as an external oblique intercostal plane block, can improve pain relief for patients after this type of surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for an open thoracotomy. The study is open to all genders and individuals with certain health conditions, but there are some exclusions, such as people with severe heart problems or certain disabilities. If you join the study, you will receive the pain management treatment being tested, and your progress will be monitored to see how well it works. This trial is currently recruiting participants, so if you think you might be eligible, it’s worth discussing with your healthcare provider.
