ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a specific surgical position called the Trendelenburg position, combined with a technique that increases pressure inside the abdomen, known as pneumoperitoneum. The researchers want to understand how this combination affects patients after surgery, particularly focusing on early complications that might arise. They are particularly interested in how changes in blood flow and metabolism during surgery can impact recovery.
To participate in this study, potential participants should be between the ages of 65 and 74, and must be scheduled for laparoscopic surgery that will last more than two hours. They should also be classified as ASA Class I-IV, which refers to their overall health status before surgery. Patients who are pregnant, scheduled for open surgery, or require kidney dialysis cannot take part in the trial. Those who join can expect to have their recovery closely monitored to gather important information that could help improve surgical outcomes for future patients. The trial is currently looking for volunteers to help with this important research.
