ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the position of patients during liposuction surgery affects the size of the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD). The optic nerve sheath surrounds the optic nerve and changes in its size can indicate changes in pressure inside the brain. The researchers believe that when patients are in a face-down position (known as prone position), the ONSD may increase due to the effects of anesthesia and fluid used during surgery. Understanding these changes could help ensure safer surgical practices.
To participate in this study, you would need to be a female aged 18 to 50 years who is undergoing liposuction surgery and in generally good health. This means having a physical status classified as 1 or 2 by the American Society of Anesthesiologists, which indicates you are healthy enough for surgery without serious medical conditions. Potential participants will need to agree to take part and sign a consent form. It’s important to note that individuals with certain health issues, such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, or severe sleep apnea, cannot participate. If you join the trial, you’ll help researchers learn more about how surgical positions affect brain pressure, which could improve safety in future surgeries.
